"I'm the mother, you're the little girl"

Ashlyn and Alyssa pretending lunch. Alyssa is the momma and Ashlyn the little girl.

Wearing Momma's "Wedding Dress"

Alyssa thinks this is my wedding dress. It actually is my bridal veil and slip, but the flowers Ashlyn "caught" at a reception.

6 Months Old

For Ava's 6 month birthday we went to the doctor and got shots. She talked so sweet to the doctor then looked at me like I betrayed her when the nurse stuck her. She woke up from her nap on Thursday (4/16) with a low-grade fever. Poor baby!

Ava weighed 17.6 pounds and is 27 inches long, so she's in the 90 percentile for her height, weight, and head circumference. She's such a sweetie. Ashlyn and Alyssa didn't like her being hurt the the shots. Protective big sisters.

Chalk Drawings

Ashlyn's drawing of a dolphin

The large white drawing is Alyssa's killer whale. I thought it was pretty good considering she's never seen one.

Ahslyn's first attempt at drawing herself and sister. The yellow is the arms and the blue is the legs. Ashlyn and Aylssa have just recently started trying to draw specific things.

All Dressed Up

Ashyln and Alyssa had to wear all of their new easter clothes at the same time.

We're not very photogenic and it doesn't help to be just waking up from a nap.

Easter Egg Hunt

Alyssa on the hunt.

Ashlyn decided later she didn't like peeps.

Ava thought everthing at easter was to eat or at least to chew on.

Easter Crafts

Little scientists. They liked mixing the colors. This was serious business.

Watching dinosaurs grow while we got everything ready.

My mom brought everthing to make chick egg holders, playdo with sticks nests, and colored easter eggs. They turned out really cute.

A Rare Day

Ava first time to swing.

Today was a perfect spring day, about 80 degrees with only a light breeze. Almost unheard of lately. We met some friends at the park for a picnic and play. Ava loves being outside. She can situp for a little while by herself now. She's getting so big.

Mopping

Most people mop their kitchens, but we're not most poeple because we (or I should say Blaine) mop our garage. Alyssa stayed up until 9:30 helping Dad mop the garage. It was a beautiful evening after another windy Panhandle spring day.

You're the Man

Blaine was changing the oil in the van on Saturday. Ashlyn wanted to go out in the garage to watch. Blaine was rolling around on his back under the van. When she saw him, she said,"You're the man!" like that was so cool.

Licking the Bowl

Ashlyn and Alyssa don't care much for cakes, cupcakes, or cookies. But they sure do love the dough and licking the bowl. I made a chocolate cake Sunday, so they helped with the cleanup. They were laughing at each other for looking like Santa.

The "Blizzard"

Bet you didn't know that you need an umbrella in the snow.

My sweet little polar bear.

Jumping from green grass into a three foot drift, only in the Texas Panhandle.

On Friday, March 27th, we had a blizzard. I don't think it ended up as windy as the weathermen thought, but we really enjoyed the wintery day. They cancelled school and work before the storm ever hit. The first time I can remember that happening. Ashlyn and Alyssa went out in the blizzard Friday afternoon. Their footsteps were completely covered up a few hours latter. We all ventured out on Saturday before the "crow" completely melted. Now on Wednesday evening we've had enough wind to completely dry up all the moisture, but there's a chance of snow again tonight.
